Yehoram Gaon, who is known for being close to his father's roots and the Ladino language, has made sure to enrich and nurture and preserve his father's culture and the Ladino language, throughout his many years of career.
Gaon has many albums and many songs in the Ladino language since he also edited his father's book "Heaven from Spain" from the Ladino language. The genius of the son of Moshe David, a genius who was a researcher of Eastern Jewry, a historian and a conservative of the Ladino language, took care, like his father, to preserve and cultivate the culture of Spanish Jewry and for this he received the Yitzhak Navon Prize.
In addition, Gaon won an award for his unprecedented contribution to Israeli culture in all its forms.
Navon, who wrote the play "Spanish Orchard", was based on a performance of Spanish sacred and secular songs, "Spanish Romance" created by a genius and his brother Benny. Yehoram turned to Navon with the aim of writing a play about the psyche of the Eastern community.
Navon presented this award to Yehoram both for his work and for his help in composing this play and his songs.
